Blackburn Rovers were almost relegated from the Championship in what could have been a major catastrophe for the club just 12 months after their relegation from the Premier league. However, the arrival of Gary Bowyer helped the club stay in the division.

Now, the manager is looking to bring in a couple of names before the end of the transfer window so as to put forth a promotion bid. Blackburn recently lost the services of defender Martin Olsson, who has been one of the best players for the club in the last few years. His departure to Norwich, though, will certainly help improve the transfer funds available for Bowyer.

He has said that the club is currently undergoing negotiations with several players, and they would ideally like to sign at least 4 names before the close of the transfer window - if only for the fans sake.

However, Bowyer has been in the game long enough to know that it does not take long for the targets to be signed by other clubs. Yann Songo'o is one player who is extremely close to completing a deal with Blackburn. He has been on a good run of form during his trial with the club. Blackburn are also looking to bring in Aston Villa midfielder Barry Bannan as well.

"In an ideal world I'd love to get in three or four new faces, I really would. It's constantly ongoing and will be until the end of the transfer window. It's still ongoing. These things take a little bit longer than managers want. We've just got to keep working hard at it and try to get things over the line," said the Blackburn manager about the possibility of new signings, while also being specific about Bannan as well. Last season, the club finished just a couple of places above the relegation zone.
