Blackburn continue their good form

However, the match was not that easy, and they had to dig deep in order to come out with the win. Indeed, Scunthorpe was unbeaten before the game, and they showed why during the match.

Blackburn have also been showing great form, which is one of the reason’s they’ve been tipped for an FA Cup run this year, with hundreds of fans already registering their interest in getting tickets to their First Round game at Livefootballtickets.com, even though the draw hasn’t even been made yet!

The home side started the match the better and created numerous chances. Blackburn Rovers could have found themselves trailing if it was not for their goalkeeper David Raya who made saves from Madden and Holmes. Scunthorpe also had chances through Josh Morris, but the latter failed twice to beat the Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper.

Scunthorpe did not allow Blackburn Rovers to create much in the first half and the first chance for the visitors came just before half-time when Dominic Samuel shot straight at the goalkeeper. The visiting side also had an opportunity to open up the scoring through Harper, but the latter could only place his header wide.

It was be Blackburn Rovers that came out after the interval the much better side. They were determined to get something from the game and began to create some opportunities of their own. At that time Scunthorpe found themselves consistently on the back foot and went down when Marcus Antonsson smashed the ball over the line from a Bennet cross.

After that Blackburn tried to control the game, and enjoyed some dominance, before they found themselves under intense pressure from Scunthorpe as the game drew to a clase. Neal Bishop had his header cleared off the line while Ojo had his last-minute shot stopped by the fingertips of the Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper.

Rovers held on to clinch a fourth successive victory in League One and reach the 10th place in the league.

Lambert In Denial

Not everyone’s happy with the recent game against the Wolves – some people are even in denial over the match, according to Paul Lambert.

Lambert stated that he was one of the ones in denial over the Wolves game and it was one of the poorest games that he’d ever seen in his career.

Lambert In Denial

Lambert stated that he was one of the ones in denial over the Wolves game and it was one of the poorest games that he’d ever seen in his career.

He felt that there was some missed chances in the match and that they could have created some opportunities to come back, if only he had focused a bit more on the plays and areas that were most important in training a bit more.

Whilst Lambert was encouraged after managing to pick the winner of the Grand National, at great odds from StanJames, he suffered a miserable afternoon watching drab football.

Blackburn Rovers didn’t really get any kind of sniff of a goal in the whole match, and they were lucky not to fall behind from as soon as the 10th minute, when Grant Hanley almost stopped them racking up their 14th clean sheet of the campaign.

Lambert stated that not only was it a bad game but it was one of the dullest games he has ever witnessed. He went on to say that the goalkeeper kept them in the game with three different world class saves – from Shane Duffy and two from Gomez.

Lambert was quoted as saying that they were severely disappointed not to win the game as they had far better chances to win with their players and their form, but they could never break the 0-0 deadlock.

Lambert however tried to defend his team by saying that he was probably nitpicking a little bit and he was being a little bit harsh on the team. He still has faith in the team but he’s still in a little bit of denial over what happened and how the loss went down.

Rovers ready to return to the Promised Land

Nearly 20 years ago Blackburn Rovers won the Premier League title, and remain one of five clubs to have managed that achievement. This was before the days of billionaire, foreign owners in England’s top flight, high television revenues and sponsorship deals.

Currently, they are just one point off the play-offs in the Championship and 5/1 to secure promotion back to the promised land of Premier League football. It has been a turbulent couple of years at the Rovers, with supporter opposition towards their owners, the Venky’s rife at one point, however, this seems to have simmered significantly recently.

On their fourth manager in four years, Gary Bowyer seems to be gradually bringing stability back to the club, and has found a way to get the team playing. Jordan Rhodes, arguably one of the brightest talents in the team is scoring freely, and has netted five times so far this term, one behind fellow striker Rudy Gestede, and is 11/1 to be the Championship top scorer.

They have taken eight points from a possible 12 in their last run of matches, including a surprise, and morale-boosting 3-1 win away at fellow play-off hopefuls Nottingham Forest last time out. They take on Ipswich at Ewood Park next, knowing that three points could take them to fourth in the league, if other results go their way. Gestede is 5/1 to open the scoring, while Rhodes is priced at 7/2 in the same market.

Undoubtedly, the ultimate aim is to reinstate themselves back as a Premier League club, and so far Bowyer appears to be doing exactly what is needed. Rhodes may not hit the heights of ex-Rovers legend Shearer, though he certainly has the talent to help the club achieve their immediate aims.

BLACKBURN MUST IMPROVE

Blackburn Rovers finished the past season on the 17th spot and are now seeing their way into the top 12 spots of the Championship and according to the head coach of the club, Gary Bowyer it is a huge improvement which shows that his club and players are improving.

Bowyer said: “You could say we’ve won one in eight but that’s a negative mindset and I can’t deal with people who have got a negative mindset’’.

“This time last year we were talking about staying in the division so the progress that has been made has been good. The people we’ve brought into the club have been good and they will just get better the more and more time they spend together as unit’’.

Adam Hanley is a 19 years old youngster who has over 13 appearances for Blackburn Rovers in the league and he revealed that there has been a big difference in the squad from what it used to be a year ago.

Hanley said: “We’ve come a long way in the last year if you look at the situation we found ourselves in a year ago. I think it’s important that we look at that and see how far we’ve come as a team, a group and a club, and as long as we stick together we can only go forward.

“The club is totally different to a year ago; it’s a much better place to be. I know we’d like to be higher up the league, and I think we’re probably unlucky not to be, but we’re still a young team who has only been put together this season. There’s still a lot of work to do but I’m sure we’ll get it right.”

If Blackburn Rovers manages on picking up positive results in the remaining few matches of the season, it will be a good outcome and campaign for Gary Bowyer and his players.

RHODES IMPRESSES

Former Huddersfield Town striker Jordan Rhodes has become one of the best players in the Championship since his mega money move to Blackburn Rovers. This season, he has been on course to win the Golden Boot award for most of the campaign.

However, the striker has been going through a sticky patch for the last few weeks, as he has not scored in the last eight matches. Despite this, he continues to remain in contention for the Golden Boot due to his 17 goals. Ross McCormack is the current table leader with 23 goals to his name.

Since there are more than 10 matches remaining in the campaign, Rhodes can still win the title. His goals are also essential if Blackburn are to put a challenge for the play-offs. Even though they have fallen 11 points behind the top six, Blackburn manager Gary Bowyer is confident that the club can improve from over the next few weeks to sneak into the play-offs. The club were expected to be challengers for the promotion spots automatically, but that has not materialised for the last two seasons.

Bowyer says that he has had a word with Rhodes and that there is nothing wrong with the striker. He has backed the 24-year-old to end his drought sooner rather than later.
“I spoke with him and the positive, the massive positive, is that there is a glut of goals coming from Jordan Rhodes.

It depends on how you interpret it or look at it. I look at it as a massive positive for us that we can look forward to and welcome him scoring goals again soon,” said the manager, whose team have been searching for a good patch of form in the business end of the season. They have been poor in recent weeks with just one win against Reading.

MORRIS MOVES ON

Blackburn Rovers has offloaded Josh Morris to Fleetwood Town on a 1 month loan deal.

“I’ve been on the bench a lot at Blackburn and not played. I’m at a stage of my career where I need to play as many games as I can. It’s a great opportunity.” Morris told BBC Radio Lancashire.

Morris has already spent 2 seasons out on loan to Yeovil Town and Rotherham United as his parent club Blackburn Rovers wants him to gain experience somewhere outside of the Championship league.

While Josh Morris has made his way out of Blackburn Rovers for 1 month, Rovers managed on signing a few players that are hoping to boost the squad and their hopes of earning promotion into the Premier League.

Rovers have added to their squad, the Serbian goalkeeper Obren Cuckovic who has already represented his country and the other player that will be joining the Championship club Blackburn Rovers is the 30 years old forward of Golden Arrows, Peter Wadabwa.

A staff member that works closely with Blackburn Rovers expressed his emotions about their latest 2 signings.

“With these two new guys the team will be completely different. Cuckovic is like a giant, he won two league titles with Tanzania’s Young Africans and played in the African Champions League.”

Blackburn Rovers are located in the middle section of the Championship league standings. It does not look like they will be able to snatch a promotion spot that would allow them to fight against the best teams in England in the Premier League but a positive note for Rovers is that they are safe from the bottom relegation zone and the more players they manage to sign will give them a better chance on securing a higher spot for the upcoming season.

ROBBO IS BACK

The manager of Blackburn Rovers, Gary Bowyer, has lauded his shot stopper Paul Robinson for his brilliant comeback.

Robinson featured for the Rovers after more than a year in the FA Cup match against Manchester City last Saturday and surprised a few people by putting up a top class performance straightaway.

Normally, when a player comes back to the scene after remaining out for this long, he takes a bit of time to hit top form, but, not Robinson. He was at the top of his game against City and saved at least two certain goals to help his team achieve one point.

It was a fantastic result for Blackburn. To stop a side like City on a draw and that too on their home ground, it’s something that they can be very proud of.

Bowyer had actually taken a risk by including Robinson in the starting XI against City which is a high quality side. But, the 34 years old English goalie repaid his manager’s faith in some style.

Robinson has been at Ewood Park since the last 5 years and he has already played more than 150 league matches for the Rovers.

Praising the veteran goalkeeper in the press conference after the match against City, Bowyer said, “Paul was playing after a long gap and the way he played, it was really amazing. He deserves a lot of plaudits for that.”

As far as Blackburn’s performance in the ongoing Championship is concerned, it hasn’t been too bad. They have won 9 out of their 24 games so far and have lost only 8. They are one of the top 10 teams in the table at the moment.

Blackburn Rovers will play their next match in front of their home crowd against Doncaster Rovers.

Blackburn Rovers need to sell footballers

Gary Bowyer said that he would have to bring forth some money before he could reinforce his team and bring in new footballers. The Blackburn Rovers manager would have to take out footballers before team owners Venky’s allow him sign new footballers.

Derek Shaw, the managing director and Gary Bowyer met the team owners in India and they were told that they have a limited fund for a loan signing. Instead, Blackburn would look to arouse money with sales. They team lost # 36.5 million in the past financial year.

Captain Scott Dann could be a shock exit, but at less than the # 6 million they wanted in the summer for him. At present, Blackburn Rovers are putting average performance in the Championship. They are now at thirteenth spot following fifteen matches.

Hanley, the defender of Blackburn Rovers, has withdrawn from Scotland team for tomorrow’s match against Norway. He withdrew because of injury. According to reports, Hanley has been undergoing some compactness in his hamstring since Friday’s match with United States and has now came back to Blackburn Rovers, who would evaluate centre back in the following few days.

Before Hanley’s pulling out, the Scot stated that he got on quite well with Morten at Rovers. He was in the squad when he made his debut. He added that he is one of the top pros he has ever seen.

STRUGGLING

Blackburn Rovers have failed to win a match in the last three of all competitions after the 0-0 draw with Huddersfield during the weekend.

Despite this disappointing result, manager Gary Bowyer choose to remain positive and has said that he is confident of taking three points in the next league match. Blackburn are expected to be promotion contenders for this season after only narrowly avoiding relegation last season. However, the fortunes have not much changed for the team, who continue to be blighted by off field incidents.

However, the fortunes have not much changed for the team, who continue to be blighted by off field incidents.

After the weekend’s result, the club are 15th on the table with just nine points from the opening eight matches. This average of just one point a match is unlikely to see the challenge for promotion spot, but Bowyer is not willing to get depressed by the recent run of results. He has said that fans should look at the positives from this draw, as there were several chances for the likes of Jordan Rhodes that would have been converted on any other day. Blackburn also dominated possession, but they were unable to convert the dominance on the ball into a victory.

Bowyer will be looking to get three points from the next match, which will be away to Bournemouth. This is likely to be a difficult match given Bournemouth’s recent form.
“For all our dominance in possession, our goalkeeper has made the best save of the game so we’ve got to give him credit for that. His concentration levels were fantastic. With his [Rhodes] quality we’re being greedy thinking it’s a great chance but it isn’t. He’s done magnificently well in the last three games with his (broken) hand and the shape he’s in but he hasn’t moaned. I’m happy with the clean sheet because it’s our first of the season,” said Bowyer.

BOWYER BRINGS STABILITY

Blackburn Rovers were almost relegated from the Championship in what could have been a major catastrophe for the club just 12 months after their relegation from the Premier league. However, the arrival of Gary Bowyer helped the club stay in the division.

Blackburn Rovers were almost relegated from the Championship in what could have been a major catastrophe for the club just 12 months after their relegation from the Premier league. However, the arrival of Gary Bowyer helped the club stay in the division.

Now, the manager is looking to bring in a couple of names before the end of the transfer window so as to put forth a promotion bid. Blackburn recently lost the services of defender Martin Olsson, who has been one of the best players for the club in the last few years. His departure to Norwich, though, will certainly help improve the transfer funds available for Bowyer.

He has said that the club is currently undergoing negotiations with several players, and they would ideally like to sign at least 4 names before the close of the transfer window – if only for the fans sake.

However, Bowyer has been in the game long enough to know that it does not take long for the targets to be signed by other clubs. Yann Songo’o is one player who is extremely close to completing a deal with Blackburn. He has been on a good run of form during his trial with the club. Blackburn are also looking to bring in Aston Villa midfielder Barry Bannan as well.

“In an ideal world I’d love to get in three or four new faces, I really would. It’s constantly ongoing and will be until the end of the transfer window. It’s still ongoing. These things take a little bit longer than managers want. We’ve just got to keep working hard at it and try to get things over the line,” said the Blackburn manager about the possibility of new signings, while also being specific about Bannan as well. Last season, the club finished just a couple of places above the relegation zone.
