Undoubtedly, the ultimate aim is to reinstate themselves back as a Premier League club, and so far Bowyer appears to be doing exactly what is needed. Rhodes may not hit the heights of ex-Rovers legend Shearer, though he certainly has the talent to help the club achieve their immediate aims.

Yann Songo’o is one player who is extremely close to completing a deal with Blackburn. He has been on a good run of form during his trial with the club. Blackburn are also looking to bring in Aston Villa midfielder Barry Bannan as well.

“In an ideal world I’d love to get in three or four new faces, I really would. It’s constantly ongoing and will be until the end of the transfer window. It’s still ongoing. These things take a little bit longer than managers want. We’ve just got to keep working hard at it and try to get things over the line,” said the Blackburn manager about the possibility of new signings, while also being specific about Bannan as well. Last season, the club finished just a couple of places above the relegation zone.
