Blackburn Rovers were knocked out of the English Football League (EFL) as Leeds United got a late winner to advance to the next stage.

The game played on Elland Road witnessed a heroic praise for Chris Wood who got his sixth goal already for Leeds this campaign. His efforts were stopped until he got the 85th minute game winner through a rebound header. The 24-year old striker scored against Blackburn when they met in the League on September 13, and scored again within a week to end the hopes of Rovers.

Paul Lambert was the latest manager to take charge of Blackburn Rovers but on April 28 of 2016, he opted to trigger a clause in his contract that allowed him to leave the club after the last match during the season of 2015-16.

Blackburn Rovers is now working to appoint the next manager as the head officials of the club have been interviewing candidates that might have what it takes to succeed Paul Lambert and try to push the club back to the Premier League.

For the past few years, Blackburn Rovers has been performing in the League Championship which is the 2nd tier league of England but they used to compete in the Premier League back in the season of 2011-12, however, after being relegated they have not managed to make a return.

Blackburn Rovers failed to make the most out of the form that they have had in recent weeks after only managing a draw with Yeovil town. Both teams failed to score throughout the 90 minutes in what was a dull affair. Blackburn came into the match after having been unbeaten in the last nine matches of the championship. This good run of form has helped them get back into contention for a play-off place with only a handful of matches left in the season. Blackburn have been expected to challenge for promotion spot at the start of the season.

Blackburn Rovers finished the past season on the 17th spot and are now seeing their way into the top 12 spots of the Championship and according to the head coach of the club, Gary Bowyer it is a huge improvement which shows that his club and players are improving.

Bowyer said: “You could say we’ve won one in eight but that’s a negative mindset and I can’t deal with people who have got a negative mindset’’.

Blackburn Rovers has offloaded Josh Morris to Fleetwood Town on a 1 month loan deal.

"I've been on the bench a lot at Blackburn and not played. I'm at a stage of my career where I need to play as many games as I can. It's a great opportunity." Morris told BBC Radio Lancashire.

Morris has already spent 2 seasons out on loan to Yeovil Town and Rotherham United as his parent club Blackburn Rovers wants him to gain experience somewhere outside of the Championship league.

Gary Bowyer said that he would have to bring forth some money before he could reinforce his team and bring in new footballers. The Blackburn Rovers manager would have to take out footballers before team owners Venky's allow him sign new footballers.

Derek Shaw, the managing director and Gary Bowyer met the team owners in India and they were told that they have a limited fund for a loan signing. Instead, Blackburn would look to arouse money with sales. They team lost # 36.5 million in the past financial year.

Blackburn Rovers have failed to win a match in the last three of all competitions after the 0-0 draw with Huddersfield during the weekend.

Despite this disappointing result, manager Gary Bowyer choose to remain positive and has said that he is confident of taking three points in the next league match. Blackburn are expected to be promotion contenders for this season after only narrowly avoiding relegation last season. However, the fortunes have not much changed for the team, who continue to be blighted by off field incidents.
