Tony Mowbray who is the current manager for Blackburn Rovers made statements on Jacob Davenport. The manager stated that Jacob has to go a long way for returning to action as a first-team player for the club. He also said though he has resumed his training sessions, he needs to take a lot of effort to come back to the field.

Davenport was taken up recently as a prime midfielder by the club. Before, he used to play for Manchester City, the Premier League Champions. Davenport joined Blackburn Rovers last summer under a deal for four years at Ewood Park. The debut season was not at all fruitful for Jacob and it was quite frustrating for him. He also could not appear as a senior player till the time when Blackburn did a 2-2 draw on the final day against Swansea City for the league season because of his injury issues. The midfielder faced a lot of setbacks during the summer. He suffered injury for his ankle ligament in a pre-season behind closed doors game against Macclesfield Town.

Tony Mowbray stated it seems that Davenport has to wait for some time to make his return as a senior footballer to the team, despite the fact that he has resumed with his training sessions. Manager for Blackburn Rovers is very much conscious about Jacob. He, along with his entire team must take care of the midfielder as he was out of the play for a long time due to back-to-back injuries. Tony likes to watch Davenport as a footballer during his training sessions as he tackles the ball around the pitch with his left foot. He also said that he must play some under 23 matches to get accustomed with the play and gain his confidence again. Jacob must start playing as a midfielder again to make himself strong and robust.
