The game at Ewood Park also had an impact on their playoff hopes yet it ended in a big loss, just as they crashed 2-0 to 23rd-placed Barnsley and 2-0 loss to 16-th placed Wigan Athletic – both sides that are below them on the standings. Continue reading ROVERS REFLECT ON PLAYOFF HOPES

Rovers, on the Ground and off the Ground

Blackburn Rovers, the team occupying the fourteenth position in the sky bet championship with a score of 43 points was supposed to be in the playoffs, but they drifted down the ranking due to 3 consecutive defeats.

The match on the 17th of February is a crucial match and so the coach, Tony Mowbray made a lot of changes to the team. Derrick Williams, Harrison Reed, Bradley Dack and Danny Graham are playing the match; the players were benched in the previous one. Mowbray thinks that Middlesbrough is very strong at defense but it might face a loss due to the absence of their defender, Daniel Ayala, who was given a red card in the previous match.

“The coach being a former player to the opposing team may be advantageous to the rovers“. They have won 15 league matches out of the 17 against Middlesbrough adding to their confidence. While the team is fighting to sustain their position in the EFL, the rovers are moving some tables off the ground as well. The rovers announced a partnership with sales geek for the growth of the sales revenue of their various commercial departments. This would lead to a long term “relationship, benefiting both sides“.

On the other hand, Craig Conway, the player ambassador for rovers went for a visit to their Charity partner, East Lancashire Hospice. He promised to spread awareness about the happy and positive environment of the Hospice in order to help them with the financial support they require. Rovers are actively expanding commercially as well as a club. Sam Barnes, who played at the club from the age of 11, has been officially signed by it as a defender at the age of 17.The rovers are conquering off the ground but they need more wins to do the same in the league.

ST MIRREN EYE BLACKBURN’S BRAD LYONS

According to a report in the Lancashire Telegraph, Brad Lyons is a player wanted by Scottish Premiership side St Mirren despite only moving to Ewood Park just six months ago.

The same report also claims that St Mirren boss Oran Kearney is keen to reunite with Lyons, having previously coached the Blackburn Rovers U23 midfielder during his time at Northern Irish semi – professional club Coleraine.

Lyons initially moved to England to play for Blackburn Rovers on loan but the BBC confirm that his deal at the club will become permanent after agreeing a contract until the summer of 2020.

The 21 year old recently spoke about his university education and how Blackburn Rovers have helped him finish his degree, saying it was what prompted him to opt for the Lancashire club when offered the chance during the summer.

Speaking to BBC, he said, “I am going into my final year at the university and I concentrate on my education massively but Blackburn Rovers are helping me with my education and that is very important, that’s what got the deal over the line.”

“Lyons is yet to make a first team Championship appearance for Blackburn Rovers this season“ but has turned out numerous times for the youth team and has been in scintillating form as “they try to retain“ their status as a Premier League 2 club following their recent promotion.

The Lancashire Telegraph reports how various teams have been keeping tabs on the player ahead of the January transfer window.

St Mirren are currently rock bottom of the Scottish Premiership, having picked up a disappointing nine points from 18 games so far, although manager Oran Kearney believes a strong transfer window could get them out of trouble.

GRAHAM TALKS UP GROWING UP DIFFICULTIES

The evergreen 33-year-old tried on an age simulation suit to try to raise awareness about difficulties older people face on a daily basis.

Vicky Shepherd and Elaine Jennings of Age UK helped him with the equipment which included specialist goggles to affect his sight and restraints on his wrists and legs and it was an experience the ex-Sunderland and Swansea man was delighted to try out.

Danny Graham said, “It felt really strange and restricted my movements and the way I was walking”.

“The whole thing just makes you think about older people especially at this time of year and how they must find it hard looking after themselves.”
“With the cold weather coming we should be looking after our elders I know my nanna is 83 and every time I get a chance to go up and see her and help her out.”

Graham tried to sprint and found it a difficult experience.
He said, “It was hard to see with the goggles on and should make us think about not putting weight on and that affects you in later life.”

“Elaine Jennings of Age UK Blackburn with Darwen also said that as a local independent charity“, they are delighted to be one of Blackburn Rover’s nominated charities for the 2018 season and to have Danny Graham as one “of their nominated players“.

Speaking further, she revealed that they wanted to show Danny in the age simulation suit and to record his reaction to show how much reduced mobility from health problems impacts on older people, all year round but most specifically during winter and to raise awareness of their local services for those aged 50 and above.

Tony Mowbray Targets A Winning Run For Blackburn

Tony Mowbray watched the likes of Shrewsbury Town and Wigan Athletic open up an advantage over Blackburn Rovers in the League One table as a result of playing in the last few weeks. Blackburn, however, had not been in action for the last 19 days. This is not to a combination of matches being called off and the international break.

The last game for Blackburn was the second week of March. Now, the club is preparing for a return to league action with the team set to host Bradford City at home on Thursday. Blackburn may have played a game more than Wigan, but they have played one fewer than Shrewsbury Town, who have a two-point advantage in the table. As a result, Blackburn could potentially go top of the table with a victory in the game against Bradford.

Blackburn continue their good form

Blackburn Rovers managed to keep their good current run by beating Scunthorpe 1-0 away from home. This win makes it the fourth successive victory for Blackburn Rovers after a difficult start to the season.

However, the match was not that easy, and they had to dig deep in order to come out with the win. Indeed, Scunthorpe was unbeaten before the game, and they showed why during the match.

Blackburn have also been showing great form, which is one of the reason’s they’ve been tipped for an FA Cup run this year, with hundreds of fans already registering their interest in getting tickets to their First Round game at Livefootballtickets.com, even though the draw hasn’t even been made yet!

The home side started the match the better and created numerous chances. Blackburn Rovers could have found themselves trailing if it was not for their goalkeeper David Raya who made saves from Madden and Holmes. Scunthorpe also had chances through Josh Morris, but the latter failed twice to beat the Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper.

Scunthorpe did not allow Blackburn Rovers to create much in the first half and the first chance for the visitors came just before half-time when Dominic Samuel shot straight at the goalkeeper. The visiting side also had an opportunity to open up the scoring through Harper, but the latter could only place his header wide.

It was be Blackburn Rovers that came out after the interval the much better side. They were determined to get something from the game and began to create some opportunities of their own. At that time Scunthorpe found themselves consistently on the back foot and went down when Marcus Antonsson smashed the ball over the line from a Bennet cross.

After that Blackburn tried to control the game, and enjoyed some dominance, before they found themselves under intense pressure from Scunthorpe as the game drew to a clase. Neal Bishop had his header cleared off the line while Ojo had his last-minute shot stopped by the fingertips of the Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper.

Rovers held on to clinch a fourth successive victory in League One and reach the 10th place in the league.

Blackburn Rovers hope ends in Premier League

Blackburn Rovers started the new season with a lot of hope that they would get back into the Premier League after an extended absence.

The former title winners are far away from their glory days. The recent appointment of former Burnley manager Owen Coyle is expected to kick off a new era at Ewood Park. The team took on Norwich City in the opening game of the season. Even though the match was at Ewood Park, it was seen as an extremely difficult encounter since Norwich have just come back from the Premier League and are extremely strong as a squad.

This turned out to be the case as Blackburn suffered a 4-1 drubbing on the opening day of the season. This certainly was not the start Coyle would have been hoping. Jack Bryne admitted that this was also not the way the players give something back to the supporters for their great support. Blackburn do have the opportunity to bounce back pretty quickly from this humiliating defeat, as they take on lower league Mansfield Town in the first round of the League Cup in their next match. This midweek encounter also gives them hope of getting some form before a run of two back-to-back away matches against Wigan and Cardiff.

“There’s 45 games left but it wasn’t good enough and we know if we keep playing like that we will be at the wrong end of the table.Maybe it’s the kick-up the backside we needed. We have to get back on to the training field and work hard toward Tuesday night where hopefully we’ll put this right. We don’t know why we played the way we did. Everybody was feeling really good. So it’s really hard to explain. We went into the game thinking it wouldn’t be a surprise if we beat them,” said Jack Byrne.

Blackburn Rovers continued their improvement in form after the arrival of Paul Lambert

Blackburn Rovers continued their improvement in form after the arrival of Paul Lambert, as they sealed a place in the fifth round of the FA Cup with a 3-0 win against Oxford United.

Blackburn Rovers continued their improvement in form after the arrival of Paul Lambert, as they sealed a place in the fifth round of the FA Cup with a 3-0 win against Oxford United.

This was a potential banana skin for the Championship team. They were up against a League Two outfit in FA Cup campaign where there has already been a number of upsets. Lambert did not have to wait long to find a route back to management. He was relieved from his role at Aston Villa less than 12 months ago. Even though he has had to drop down to the Championship, Blackburn represents a great opportunity for him to return to the Premier League in the near future.

The club may struggle to get promotion in the 2015-16 season since they are already left with an uphill task as far as points are concerned. Getting the club on a winning mentality will be the key for next season. Lambert appears to be on the verge of achieving this after seeing his team suffer only one defeat in the last five matches. A reward for overcoming lower league opposition in the last two FA Cup rounds will be a match against Liverpool or West Ham in the fifth round. The match will be at home and it gives a great opportunity for the club to reach the quarter-finals.

“I thought we were excellent. Oxford are a good side, they beat Swansea in the last round and they are doing will in their league. Now if we got a Premier League side away in the next round it would help us even more financially,” said Lambert, whose team recently agreed the sale of star striker Jordan Rhodes. “Jordan has been excellent for Blackburn, but the money is too good to turn down. The investment will help, the club has got to rebuild,” continued Lambert.

Blackburn Rovers continued with their unbeaten run

Blackburn Rovers continued with their unbeaten run under Paul Lambert, but they were unable to secure three points against Nottingham Forest.

Blackburn Rovers continued with their unbeaten run under Paul Lambert, but they were unable to secure three points against Nottingham Forest.

The result disappointed manager Lambert, who was appointed in November, because he felt that Blackburn created more than enough chances during the 90 minutes to have secured a win. Three points would have confirmed the club’s improvement in the league table. They are closing in on a top 10 place after an unbeaten run that stretches back to the end of October. The last defeat suffered by the club was back in the home game against Burnley on October 24.

There were some nervous moments for Blackburn in the 90 minutes, but they are not as threatening as the stoppage time effort from Nottingham Forest that brought out a top save from Jason Steele. The save was immense since it preserves the confidence that the club has built in the last few weeks. Lambert has taken a whopping 11 points from a possible 15. This will help him put behind the disappointing spell with Aston Villa. The former Norwich manager was unable to make any impact at Villa Park. It is a completely different story with regards to this tenure at Ewood Park so far.

The club have a difficult away match against Reading in the next Championship outing. “It’s an exceptional return. If they keep going, then let’s see what happens. There will come a time when we do lose at some point, but they’ve shown they can do (it). They need maybe a little bit of help but 11 points from 15 has captured everybody at the football club – okay, let’s see what can happen. That’s the positive thing about the whole football club and training ground. None of that negativity that’s been hanging around. It’s a good time at the minute,” said Lambert.

Bowyer Claims Commitment To Blackburn

Blackburn Rovers manager Gary Bowyer has claimed that he is committed to remaining at the club going into the new season. This statement comes after reports linking him with the managerial job at Leeds United. After the recent recover from an Italian businessman, Leeds United are widely expected to appoint Bowyer as the new manager. Despite the late recovery in form, Leeds finished well away from the play-off places, which is very important for the club to get into the Premier league.

Former Reading manager Brian McDermott has been consistently stating that he would not resign from the job. However, it seems that the club finally lost patience with him after the team finished several places below the play-off. They sacked the manager on Friday. The new man, who is expected to be appointed before the start of pre-season, is expected to handed a sizeable transfer kitty. Hence, Leeds United have become an attractive proposition in the eyes of many managers. Bowyer, though, has ruled out the possibility of joining the club.

Blackburn came close to sneaking into the play-offs in the final few weeks of the campaign. After having failed to do so, they will now be looking at challenging next season. “I can assure you that we’ve had no contact at Blackburn Rovers over Gary and I very much doubt whether we will do. Gary’s very happy with his job at Blackburn and long may that continue,” said managing director Derek Shaw. “I recently met with the owners in India and those discussions were both positive and constructive,” said the manager.

Blackburn finished just two places below the play-offs last season, while only two points separated them from Reading in the final sixth place. Leeds recently revealed that they have as many as 10 managers lined up for the vacant position.
