EMERTON POSITIVE OF ROVERS’ CHANCES

Brett Emerton is hugely positive of Blackburn Rovers’ chances for the new Premier League after being involved in the pre-season matches. The Rovers are in Sydney for the Festival of Football which kicks off this Sunday and sees them pitted against A-League champions Sydney FC, Scottish giants Glasgow Rangers and Greek outfit AEK Athens in three match days over a week.

Emerton said the tournament will be a great way for manager Sam Allardyce to iron out any kinks and get his squad to where he wants it for the rigors of the EPL.

“It’s something I am really looking forward to and the three games will be very valuable in our preparation for the Premier League,” he told the Telegraph.

“As a team, we have a very close bond and it is important for the players to have that relationship….The players know what their jobs are under the boss….He’s approachable and you can have a laugh with him, but don’t get on his bad side!!!”
